Default Berdych stole thunder, beat world's top tennis player at Sony Ericson Open

After the exit of top seed and defending champion American tennis star Andy Murray at the Sony Ericsson Open in the first round, another top male player in professional tennis got booted out in the tournament.
Tennis superstar Roger Federer was defeated by 16 seeded Tomas Berdych 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 to advance to the quarterfinals in the ATP sanctioned tournament.
The upset victory is a great relief for one of the top professional tennis player from Czech Republic since it ended his eight consecutive losses against Federer.
The shocking win also offers smile to the 6-foot-5 Berdych since he had lost 11 matches in a row against top-10 opponents.
On the other-side of the fence, Federer is very sad with his loss since it deprived him the chance to compete big in the tournament.
The world's top professional tennis player also misses the chance to battle his top rival Spanish tennis superstar Rafael Nadal.
Before their match, Federer was the overwhelming favorit.
Grand Slam titles: Federer 16, Berdych 0. Total points in the match: Federer 119, Berdych 119.
However, during the actual game, Berdych showed Federer that he cannot be easily be beaten as he used strong ground strokes to defeat the professional tennis superstar.
With his loss, Federer vowed to work harder to gain success in the incoming ATP sanctioned tournaments.
Other top seeded players in the tournament were not as unfortunate as Federer as they won their respective matches.
American tennis superstar Andy Roddick avoid the upset by beating Benjamin Becker 7-6 (4), 6-3.
Nadal for his part defeated fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 7-6 (5), 6-4.
If Roddick and Nadal continue their winning ways, the two could meet up in the semifinals which make the Sony Erickson Open more exciting.
On the women's side, American tennis superstar Venus Williams and three-time champion Venus Williams reached the semifinals by defeating No. 6-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 6-1.
The Sony Ericson Open is getting more exciting and intriguing that professional tennis fans should watch the games live by getting cheap tennis tickets.
